Miss Switzerland visits SOS Cape Town

The children from the SOS Children's Village Cape Town received a surprise visit from the newly crowned Miss Switzerland, Amanda Ammann.  She visited the camp site in Betties Bay where the whole village was treated to a weeklong holiday camp organised by Happy Days Tours.
Miss Amanda is in the Mother City to do a photo shoot as well as bringing Christmas cheer to the SOS children with - these in the form of shoes, donated by Voegele Shoes from Switzerland.
The 20 year old Amanda Ammann comes from St. Gallen in the East of Switzerland and is currently studying
International Relations at a university in Geneva and wants to focus her efforts during her reign on humanitarian work.  She has two younger sisters aged 17 and 15 and her dad is a school teacher and her mom working in a bank.
On meeting the SOS Children, Amanda said she could not believe the openness with which the children and adults received her. It is in stark contrast with most people from her country.
She says, “Being Miss Switzerland is nice and glamorous.  You make a lot of money which I did not have before and now I have enough money for my studies.  However I will not forget who I am and what is important to me in particular my family and friends.  I will be back soon to do some volunteer work in South Africa and to explore the country.”
