Key 2: The caregiver has the ability to provide childcare
This Key involves supporting caregivers to develop their parenting knowledge and skills, ensuring that their own health needs are met and enabling them to plan for the long-term future of the children in their care.
SOS uses its extensive experience in childcare to build the skills of community caregivers, as well as providing HIV & AIDS Wellness training, conflict and stress management.
Families are also encouraged to think openly about the children's futures, and to ensure that wills, birth certificates and identity documents are finalised before the parents die.
