Shoprite Checkers Mobile Soup Kitchen

Anyone from out of town who has spoken to me this week knows how cold, wet and windy Cape Town has been. So when the Shoprite Community Network Mobile Soup Kitchen arrived on our doorstep the children, mothers and staff queued in anticipation for the tasty soup to warm them up from the inside.

Just a little bit of information you might find interesting:
As South Africa's number one retailer and one of the country's most trusted brands, Shoprite has a close relationship with the communities they serve. Through the Shoprite Community Network they can give something back to these communities. One of the projects falling under the Shoprite Community Network is the Shoprite Mobile Soup Kitchens. These mobile kitchens distribute over 300 000 cups of soup and bread per month. The network also drives community upliftment and in just 7 years more than R11 million in donations and more than 1 100 community projects across South Africa. SOS Children’s Villages Cape Town was selected as one of the beneficiaries.

Further to this we are receiving R10 000 worth of Shoprite Vouchers which will add value to SOS Cape Town as we purchase items needed within Family Based Care, Family Strengtheing Programme and our Kindergarten.
